believe what you’ve heard about zenkichi, it is truly a remarkable restaurant. you won’t be wowed with a white tablecloth or crystal stemware but i promise you will enjoy a most authentic japanese cuisine experience.
upon arrival, you’re ushered to your own private little booth where you can ring a polite bell when you’re ready for service. how much nicer is that than rudely trying to flag down you’re server when you need something? once you’re settled in, i recommend checking out the sake tastings and asking your server what would pair nicely with what you’ll be trying from the menu. the servers are incredibly knowledgeable and very happy to offer advice. as you can see from the images, we sampled a number of things on the menu. everything was delectable! a few favorites that stand out however, are the chicken wings and the tofu and spinach. i’ve been off chicken wings for years (working at hooters for longer than i care to admit will do that to you) but these wings were most delicious, crispy and flavorful. and the tofu was really the creamiest, most smooth tofu i’ve tasted. such simple dishes but they were amazing. as you can imagine, the sea bass was perfectly cooked and succulent and the sushi was as fresh as it gets. be sure to try the black sesame mousse as well. it’s sounds odd but was my favorite dessert.
you’ll need a reservation and don’t even think about being late : )
