kent avenue’s got a great new spot for late night bites and cocktails. friends of our passed grand ferry a couple of weeks ago while on a dog walk and decided to invite us along to check it out for dinner. we may have been crashers as i’m not quite sure they were open to the public yet but they were very friendly and the food was delicious nonetheless.
the inside of the bar is standard for the neighborhood, vintage graphic prints on the walls, a substantial wooden bar and servers with painted red lips and pinned back hair waiting tables. we were a little surprised that the menu was so limited but once we dug into our food, we realized that what they did, they did very well! we did local oysters and fresh, bright, bruschetta to start. there were six of us for dinner so we tried about all the entrees on the menu and each was delicious! i had a burger and what i loved was the picked accoutrement that came on top rather than your typical lettuce tomato and onion. they also did an impressive vegetarian shepherd’s pie. to prepare such a hearty meal with lighter ingredients was a great addition to their menu. the beer braised brisket was equally as flavorful and rich.
grand ferry is a great addition to the waterfront and we’ll definitely make our way over again soon!
