there was one more dinner to celebrate my 30th. my girlfriends took me to glasserie, a hidden gem over in greenpoint. although it was probably less than two miles away, the old cobblestone road and industrial buildings surrounding it made us feel like we’d discovered a new neighborhood all-together! i think the owners, sara conklin and sara kramer set up shop on what’s going to be a hot block. just a small neon ‘G,’ indicates the entrance of the restaurant. when we walked in, i was definitely surprised at how light and airy the space felt. soft washed wood finishes paired with exposed bulb fixtures and plenty of space between the tables made for a comfortable and inviting experience.
we started with lamb croquettes and flaky bread. you pick up on the mediterranean influences instantly. the yogurt dip and labneh served alongside the starters was light, fresh and lemony. after that, we split the yellow bean salad, chicken with black chickpeas and fish. each were both fresh and had unexpected but delicious flavors. last but not least, they brought out a lemony crumble with three candles in it. i can’t tell you what i wished for when i blew out the candles but i was very thankful to spend the evening with my three dear friends for such a lovely meal!
