if you haven’t been to extra fancy yet, do yourself a favor and go! i was expecting a shanty feeling crab shack but i was so wrong. the decor wasn’t fancy by any means but there was definitely some williamsburg chic going on. there were four of us for dinner and we started with some signature cocktails and even the ‘virgin,’ versions were delicious. for starters, we dove into the skillet corn bread and brussels sprouts. honestly, i could have just stopped there. the corn bread came with this deliciously sweet butter on the side that you can’t help but slather all over every surface of your bread. you can’t really go wrong with pancetta and brussels sprouts either, kind of a win-win no matter what.
next came the entrees. i’d put the lobster role here on par with those at walter foods. big tender lumps of crab with just enough mayo and extras to hold it together. the fish and chips looked like a pretty signature staple too. jack got the special that night, a big steak (he’s just come off a meat-free lent) and they did a great job on that as well.
if you’re all in, you have to get dessert, right? why not get a huge fudge sunday and slab of pecan pie? they both hit the spot. the pie was probably my favorite though, it had such a buttery, flaky crust, it was one of the better pecan pie slices i’ve had.
we’ll definitely go back. i loved the casual vibe and serious treatment of everything on the menu. this is the kind of place you can close your eyes, randomly point to something on the menu and you know you’re going to be in for a treat-
