what’s better than a good buttered truffle roll to start your meal off? three types of hand cut seasoned french fries with dipping sauces, that’s what! and that’s just how they roll at bourbon steak.
bourbon steak is inside the four season’s hotel in georgetown. there’s a great bar scene and we were lucky enough to snag a table at 7:30 on a friday night. right off the bat, i loved this place because they had a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails. with a baby on the way, i can no longer enjoy my signature glass of red but bourbon made a west indian limeade that was such a refreshing treat. it had fresh lime, ginger syrup, bitters and sparkling water. tt wasn’t too sweet and almost made me feel like i was sipping on a real cocktail : )
after we polished off the french fries, they brought out that delicious truffle roll you see in the cast iron dish. wow, was this one of my favorites. followed up by a raw bar sampler and foie gras with a peach gelee on the inside, our palettes were indulging in some seriously rich flavors. since we started on the heavy side, we decided to just split a ny strip for our main (which was still more than enough for two). the steak was cooked perfectly and had that nice blackened crunch on the outside that i love. of course we couldn’t resist trying the sides; the mac and cheese and sautéed mushrooms were phenomenal, as expected.
there was one last morsel for dessert, we shared one of our italian favorites, profiteroles.
bourbon steak has a wonderful menu and while very hip and sophisticated, it doesn’t feel a bit stuffy. had my baby bump not given away my status, we likely would have stuck around for a martini afterwards but this lady was ready for bed after a meal like that!
